Make Friends With An Elephant In The Tarzan Outfit

January 31st 2012

A former employee of a co-op food store has traded in his boring uniform for something slightly less restricting. DeWet Du Toit now wears a loin cloth much like his hero Tarzan and has traded in his job for a lifestyle much like the jungle runner's.

He now lives in George, South Africa with his parents and spends all his time adapting his mind, body and soul to the harsh and unforgiving world of the bush. 3 days a week DeWet spends outside, at one with all types of nature. He says his best friend is an elephant called Shaka and that he spend more time with zebras, crocodiles and monkeys than he does with human beings.

DeWet or DeTarzan as we are going to call him from now on even swings through trees like his favourite fictional character and isn't afraid of swimming through a dirty river or two. He trains hard to be fit enough to survive in the jungle and often runs up the surrounding mountains to keep in shape. At night he has to set platforms up in trees to keep away from the snakes and leopards that may not be so keen on him sharing their territory.

World Book Day Fancy Dress Costumes

January 26th 2012

World Book Day takes place on the 1st of March each year. The event is to celebrate the work of authors and illustrators but is most importantly known for encouraging kids to read.

Many different organisations have come together to help World Book Day become the large event it is today. All schools now receive a £1 voucher towards books for every single pupil in the school. Nearly all book stores participate in the offer and every year some £1 books are published so children can get a brand new book without having to pay a single penny. If they want to choose another book then the voucher gives them £1 off any book over £2.99.

Schools often participate in World Book Day fancy dress on the 1st of March and encourage children to come to school dressed as one of their favourite characters from a book. The teachers will often join in with the fancy dress fun and dress up as their favourite character and will teach the children about this character too. It is a great way for the pupils to see their teachers in a new light and learn about new stories and characters.

Watch The Superbowl In American Football Costumes

January 19th 2012

It is often called the biggest sporting event in the world with 111million fans watching from America last year and millions more from around the globe. The Superbowl marks the end of the American Football season and crowns one team and one team only as the champions of the world. They claim to be world champions despite never playing a team from another country may I add. Maybe that will change eventually as the rest of the world starts to take a bit more interest in the sport.

London will feature an NFL American Football game each season until 2016 and they always succeed in filling out the huge capacity of Wembley Stadium when they visit and the tickets seem to sell out faster each year. More and more people are staying up to watch games on Channel 5 and Sky Sports as well and as the big game gets nearer towards the end of the season, the more people that take an interest and start watching...

American Football Costumes

15 years ago in England, if you mentioned the Superbowl to a bunch of random people you may get a few people answering with “oh, the American football thing?” and maybe the odd person who would stay up to watch it until 3am. Nowadays however the sport is rapidly becoming more popular and many now stay up to watch it with their buddies.

When I watch the Superbowl I get a few people round, have a few Budweiser's and eat lots of tasty yet unhealthy food in true American style. This year I think i'm going to take it one step further and have a themed American fancy dress party...
